Jaronas Scheurer

Jaronas Scheurer, born 1988, studied philosophy and musicology at the University of Basel. In summer 2017, he completed his studies with a thesis on the contemporary English composer and sound designer Trevor Wishart. Subsequently, he worked at the University of Lucerne for half a year and, since Summer 2018, he has held the position of assistant for music history at the University of Basel. His musicological focus is on new and contemporary music and on the aesthetics and philosophy of music. He is writing a PhD on unperformable music. As a music journalist he writes for SRF’s neo.mx3-blog, Positionen, the NZfM, and Dissonance, and he is active as a curator and concert organizer, for example as part of the program committee of the IGNM Basel or as part of the klappfon-concert series in Basel.
